The Signal Hill Library offers a collection that includes resources for all ages: young adult, fiction, non-fiction, reference, large print, over-sized, Spanish and Khmer language, periodicals, best sellers' collection, DVDs, and audio books. Free WiFi and computers are available.

TEMPORARY LIBRARY CLOSURE

July 21 – 25, 2014

Due to the demolition of the old police department building,

the library will be closed for the five days noted above.

To renew any library materials (excludes DVDs) please call 562-989-7323 or drop them off at our drop box.

We will re-open on Saturday,

July 26, 2014.

Interlibrary Loan

Patrons may request books and other materials that are not available at the Signal Hill Library through our Inter-library Loan Program.  Two FREE requests per month.  Thereafter $2.00


Resources
Local telephone directories, online periodical index, tax forms, consumer research and local history articles are available to patrons.  The library also has a well-rounded collection of popular reading materials including many bestsellers.


Facebook Guide for Beginners
Access a basic guide to creating your facebook account, finding friends,
and familiarize yourself with Facebook features.


Public Access Computers
We offer six access computers featuring Learning Express, Microsoft
and online Britannica.
  • Computers equipped with Microsoft Office XP 2003, internet access, flash drives, online databases and headphones are available to patrons who have a valid library card and are logged in by staff on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • ADULTS may have access to a computer for one hour per day with limited additional time if no other patrons are waiting to use a computer.
  • YOUTH ages 10 to 17 may have internet access with a valid library card and signed permission from a parent or legal guardian.  They are allowed thirty minutes per day, unless they are working on homework in which case they are allowed one hour.
  • CHILDREN ages 4 to 9 have access to pre-programmed, educational games for thirty minutes a day with a valid library card.  Children under 4 must have a parent with them at all times while using the computer.
Computer Pring-out Fees:
$0.15 per page in black-and-white


Proctored Exams
The library offers proctored exams by appointment for a fee of $25.00 per exam either in print form or online.
