Metro’s Regional Service Councils are composed of elected officials and/or private citizens that regularly use public transit within the region they represent, have an understanding of the mobility needs of their community, and a knowledge and appreciation of their region’s history. The Gateway Cities region represents much of southwest Los Angeles County, and includes Signal Hill and Long Beach. The Gateway Cities Service Council has one vacancy for a seat, with a three-year term.

To be eligible to serve, applicants must live and/or work in the Gateway Cities service area and be able to attend an anticipated one Council meeting each month, in addition to a limited number of special meetings as needed. Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of the month at 2:00 PM at Salt Lake Park in Huntington Park and have a duration of 1 – 2 hours. Council members receive a $100 stipend per meeting (up to two meetings per month) and a Metro badge good for unlimited use of the Metro Bus and Rail system.
